Taba Peterside is an accomplished financial services professional with experience across five countries, spanning commercial and investment banking, development finance, and financial sector regulation and research. She is a Director of Keyside Resources and Investment, which manages a portfolio of investments and strategic partnerships in diverse sectors integral to Africa’s infrastructure, such as renewable energy and telecommunciations.
Between 2008 and 2015, she was a General Manager at The Nigerian Stock Exchange, where she headed various functions, most recently Listings Sales & Retention, where she was responsible for bringing new companies to list and for strengthening The Exchange’s interface with listed companies. In 2014 she oversaw the first dual listing of a company’s shares on The Nigerian and London Stock Exchanges, a landmark achievement for the NSE. She enjoys strong peer recognition for her capital market expertise, and has received an award from the Securities and Exchange Commission for her contribution to capital market development.
As head of Corporate Finance at Investment Banking & Trust Company (now Stanbic IBTC), she closed many landmark transactions and consolidated the bank’s leadership in investment banking. At the Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation, one of the world’s most respected deposit insurers, she was responsible for risk management and corporate governance compliance among insured banks. Taba has also been a Program Manager with the International Finance Corporation in Ghana, from where she led equipment leasing technical assistance programs in Ghana, Tanzania and Rwanda. Under her leadership, Ghana and Tanzania experienced a significant rise in leasing volumes, and a leasing law was passed in Tanzania.
Taba holds a first degree in Development Studies (Economics) from the University of Kent in the UK and a Masters in Development Economics from Dalhousie University, Canada. Among her many interests, Taba is an active mentor to younger career women. She is an Executive Council Member of Women in Management, Business and Public Service (WIMBIZ), and chairs its Finance Committee. She is also a Member of the Institute of Directors Nigeria and is the Vice Chair of its Women Directors’ Development Committee. In addition, she is a Trustee of the Nigerian National Committee of the United World Colleges and a member of the Platform to Implement the UN’s Women Empowerment Principles in Nigeria’s private sector. She is committed to excellence and has a passion to help move Nigeria from potential to greatness.
