Women in Management, Business and Public Service (WIMBIZ) is a Nigerian-based nongovernmental organization formed in 2001 by 14 individuals to be the voice for women in careers and businesses. In addition, the organization was established to create a platform for women to interact and address gender inequalities in the workplace and businesses and assist them manage these challenges. WIMBIZ offers a variety of programs throughout the year, which are focused on developing the leadership capacity of women and building value added business relationships.


We are currently seeking to engage a dynamic, passionate, result-oriented and self-motivated individual to fill up the position of Communication Officer for the organization.


Duration: Full time employment

Location: Lagos

Remuneration: Attractive and will be commensurate with experience.

In the performance of your duties, you will be under the supervision of the Executive Director and you will be responsible for the following:

  • Developing key messages and marketing materials
  • Assisting in the determination of the requirement for, development and implementation of effective internal and external communication strategies
  • Managing the development of print and e-communication: annual report, brochures, newsletter, e-newsletter, blogs
  • Developing and implementing the social media strategy for publicizing the organizations programs and activities through Facebook, Blogs, Twitter, Instagram and other relevant social media platforms
  • Developing strategies to increase traffic on the website and social media platforms including Facebook, Blog, Twitter, Instagram
  • Monitoring effective benchmarks for measuring the impact of social media programs, and analyzing, reviewing, and reporting on effectiveness of campaigns in an effort to maximize results
  • Providing feedback on insights gained from social media monitoring to the Program team, to help them evolve their strategies in a timely fashion
  • Creating, developing and managing content for organization’s web presence
  • Ensuring web-based information is archived for future needs and reference
  • Cultivating and managing the organization’s relationship with the media and coordinating media events
  • Acting as the first point of contact for Internal and External Communications queries
  • Working with the team to ensure adoption of relevant social media techniques into the corporate culture
  • Working cooperatively with program team members
  • Managing organization’s databases
  • Providing support for other areas of WIMBIZ’s work towards achieving its vision

Minimum Requirements

  • Relevant University Degree or its equivalent.
  • Relevant Post Graduate degree will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Knowledge and good understanding of effective Communications practice.
