DR. CELESTINA EKE, MNI

Dr. Celestina Nkechi Eke, mni is an experienced financial services and construction industry expert. An Alumnus of the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), a fellow of Nigeria Institute of Quantity Surveyors (FNIQS), Fellow, Institute of Construction Industry Arbitrators (FICIArb), Certified Facility Management Professional (FMP) and many more. 

She has worked in different capacities. Her career of 22 years spanned through the Banking Industry, Project Management, Facilities Management, Policy making, Strategic Planning and Analysis, Construction Management and Administration and all aspects of construction/infrastructure business and practice. 

 She is the first Director General of Nigeria Institute of Quantity Surveyors’ Foundation (NIQSF). A foundation arm of the professional body.  She served twice as a Council Member of the NIQS, first as a co-opted member of the Institute and later as a Secretary Marketing and Corporate Affairs. She served in the Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria.  She was the pioneer Treasurer of the National Executive of Women Association of Quantity Surveyors of Nigeria (WAQSN). She was a council member of Women in Management, Business and Public Service (WIMBIZ) and also a life member of WIMBIZ. In 2019 she got NIQS President award for recognition for service to the profession and to the Nation. She was voted in 2021 in Business Day Women Hub as one of the 50 inspiring Nigeria women and in 2022, ICONSGROUP of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, gave her certificate and award of outstanding contribution to Nation Building.  

She served in various capacities with the First Bank of Nigeria Limited. Some of her positions with the Bank include: General Services Manager and Relationship Manager in Public Sector Group. She worked at the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, where she was seconded to the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation as the Head, Technical Division in the Department of Federal Integrated Staff Housing (FISH). She is presently the Branch Head Quantity Surveying at the Federal Ministry of works and Housing. She was an External Examiner to the department of Quantity Surveying, Imo State University. Chairperson and member of committees of all her numerous professional bodies and some committees’ set out by Federal Government. 

She has written articles in professional journals. Some of these are: “Quantity Surveying: A Reforming Cost Control Profession” (The Quantity Surveyor, 55(2),3-8 (2007) and “Overview of Quantity Surveyors Role in Engineering Infrastructure Projects” (NIQS 2006 Biennial Conference Calabar Nigeria 22-25 November, 2006). She has attended numerous workshops, conferences and seminars both within and outside Nigeria.   

Dr Celestina Eke, mni has attended various institutions of higher learning.  Ahmadu Bello University Zaria to study Quantity Surveying, University of Calabar, Masters in Business Administration, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Master’s in Facility Management and Glasgow Caledonian University, United Kingdom for her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Construction Management.
